Not Ron Jeremy

I'll resume normality tomorrow. In the meantime, someone please help out this Homeless Pornstar.

(At some point I suppose I should do a post on people who think that just because they spent a lot on a bike 10 or 15 years ago that it still should be worth a lot. I bought a complete Homeless with a similar build kit less than five years ago for like $150. And I'm thinking the "value" hasn't gone up.)

(Oh wait, those are LIMITED EDITION Primo tires. Nevermind.)

In related news, I bought this last week:

30/10, here we come.

••••••••••••••

Hm, maybe something different just for today.

The prices of bikes on Craigslist are even worse. I've seen people trying to sell Haros and such for way more than they're worth. Such as this one: http://nh.craigslist.org/bik/972622912.html and this one: http://nh.craigslist.org/bik/966144556.html

i like how that guy who's selling it decided his username should be "ipeeblue"...

30/10 is nice. 30/9 is nicer. 30/8 is nicest.

we need more posts russ....i'd like to see how the new "bushing system" in the KHE astral hubs is better than regular bearings, and for the worse....

hoeless pornstar...long in the front with a real tight rearend...
hahahhahahah

i miss homeless so much.
i must have had 3 or 4 macks, broke everyone of them and just bought another one. I was on the sheps side of the s&m / Homeless quarrel.
it wasn't until I saw sheps on a holmes in GO, did I give in and buy an s&m.

should i go 30/10?

what was the sheps/s&m quarrel?

I've been running 30/9 for a while, it's perfect. Anything steeper than that might be too much, but if you only ride parks and you have wide bars I can see 33/9 or 30/8, steep gears are nice for full speed fakies.

And who thought their looptail "P.K.Ripper" would be worth a grand 25 years later?

How many Homeless Bikes were made, and how many survived? 20 years from now people will be looking for the first of the "rider owned company" bikes to display in their condo with the chain off cuz their wife doesn't want oil stains on the carpet. Who puts enough oil on their chain that it drips?

33-9??! Thats some crazy gearing.

russ, drop a photo of the homeless kit... The forks alone are something to celebrate...

Q - Were the frames (homeless Macks...) S&M dirt bike rejects? Or, did Sheeps go Dirt Brothers full-on...?

I only remember one person in and around the Maryland/Virginia area that had one. You could easily have made the case for them being something from S&M - same drop outs, "gusset" (if you could call it that...) and same crack right behind the seattube... Obviously, based on Taj's recently blog entry, he rode too many Holmes' - including when he was on Homeless...

Long in the front, with a tight rear end YOU CAN WORK FOR HOURS.... classic

i don't even know what $5000 looks like...

Jason: If I remember rightly, Homeless and S&M used the same manufacturer for a period of time, which would account for the similarities. You could special order a "freestyle" S&M Dirtbike with a standing platform, which was just the standing platform off a Homeless Player or Soul Bro or whatever it was called.

Frames from the 90's sell for dirt...Well they don't even sell actually..

I was trying to sell an old volume for like 50$- nobody wants it..I paid 250$ for it.. :(

It's like young kids won't touch them cuz there old and heavy, mid schoolers don't give a damn about collecting them, the old guys are in another dimension..

Give it a few years and the mid school generation will have their mid life crisis and start buying their childhood dream bikes..

well, either so many companies are expected to make new frames each near, never keeping classics the same, like 3 and 1/2 mike aitken frames,in 5 years, how much have they reaallllly changed? So what dakota roche doesn't have to go thru a decade of riding a super heavy frame. look at josh stricker, 3 frames since he rode for trek in the 90's.

either these bikes are only being made to last as long as until the next frame comes out.... or crank or seat and post.

pivitol is dead, its now the sign of a box bike. hell MTB's come with them, why buy pivitol when there are many set-ups that are significantly less weight and price?
so whats a pivitol worth used?
or used looseball pedals?
or used grips?

some things aren't worth much. things are worth far less used.
but a house can be worth 100,000$ more than what you paid if the next person is willing to pay that, and its used!
don't buy anything new, when something newer will just come out and somone will buy it.

so no problem with rick thorne, and are you saying russ that ice money is a black rooftop?
-what about fixed gear's made by bmx companies(as a positive is)

30/10 is the shiznit

Wow Steve, that was quite a long post considering not a word of it made any sense. Used BMX bikes are liked used computers, unless it is some kind of collector's oddity it is pretty much worthless.

"pivitol is dead, its now the sign of a box bike. hell MTB's come with them, why buy pivitol when there are many set-ups that are significantly less weight and price?"

I can almost discern from that heap of errors that you are trying to say there is a cheaper and lighter alternative to pivotal seats? Link please?

Traci Lords. Sigh.....

what do you figure is steve's native language?

uh beau.. theres a link in the topic of a post from a few days back. this is the internet, does it need to make sense?

Oh those things, I'm still not sure if those are seats, jury is still out til I see one. I understand nobody "sits" on their seat anymore, but the definition of the word seat implies that you could potentially, we may have to make a new word for the new "things you put in the top of the seat tube."

Lmao... last comment 9 years ago. What is with these new shitty bikes these days??? Trying to find something worth a shit. I've always rode 48:11 on a pro XL with front and back breaks you need both and nice ones to be able to stop. But I see all these pussy BMX people now. They complain about 28:9 being so hard Lol? And 27:9 is just rite... even people in the Olympics are so weak these days they do 46:16 Lol! 16!?? That's huge!!!! Old lady gears Lol! People have turned in to weak asses. It's sad and I thought the boards with the tiny wheels, that dont go past 10 mph and you fly off if you hit a pebble were stupid. But now they are fat kids with tooth pick arms just standing on electric skate boards lol so pathetic. I usually go 60 mph threw gravel no prob on my Alva. Then I'd go about 55 mph on my Diamondback and I could catch 15 feet of air... just trying to find a good street bike. But all I can find is these pussy ass park bikes. They top out at 8 mph! 25:9 lmao wtf?? Weird shit for old ladies... I guess I could try like 36:9? 35:9 idk but supposedly the new bikes are trash and the driver will blow... 33:9? Lol if anyone actually sees this any idea how to make it so the driver doesn't break? Like is there special drivers peoole that are not wimps? So many cry babies these days... must be becuase 90% of their time is spent on a couch... Lol. I even hear people complain about 27:9 Lol wtf?? At least do 28:9 So a ratio of 3.0 rite? Any how I'm looking to get to a ratio of about 3.65 and 10 feet per pedal stroke. Idk how to do that with this new stupid shit... and the breaks suck too on these new ones wtf??? Tiny break cables microscopic these will only last like 2 weeks on a good bike lol. Mind blown! Guess I'll call some shops...
