Go Pig or Go Home

Was on the 2Hip website yesterday (update the news, fellas, March 27th was a long time ago) and decided to click on the "products" link. Let's see what frames they're offering these days.

Lino, Death, Jarrod, Playboi, Pork, Soul...

Wait a minute. Pork?

PORK?

Yep. Still there, all 9.3 sexy pounds of it. And, if you believe what it says on the site, still available in yellow, black or candy red for the low, low price of $259.95 (just $27.95 a pound—which is probably how they should advertise it).

According to the copy, it's "the last frame you'll ever need!" Which, I suppose, is right—because it'll either outlast you, or cause you to quit BMX forever. Possibly both. They're apparently all out of the aluminum version, which is a shame, because at least that bike made a little sense. An updated, slimmed-down internal/mid version could actually be cool. Why they haven't given up and sold the chromoly ones for scrap yet, I have no idea.

Think Kink still has any Revision Bs?

EDIT: Apparently Alex still has the correct rims for you, too.

Fuck a Revision B, B! It is all about the original Empire. Kink does have one Revision B leaning against the wall though and that's it. Wait till you see the new Empire Frame.

The pork frame i thought would be what the writer of this blog would like. In other words another old product with no progression of technology built in .

Ron "the other white meat" Wilkerson is keeping those frames in production waiting for Cameron Birdwell to rise from the ashes and shoot straight back to the middle of the sport...and i'm not sure but i think Mr. Anonymous 12:44 has muscled up a little "key board courage" and is sort of calling you out for being a curmudgeon.

Sure they aren't just left overs that they had repainted to look a little fresh in hopes that someone will buy them for nostalgic fact? I think it's pretty sweet, if I had room for one of those I'd purchase it and hell, put it on my wall. Doubt they could do a slimmed down one that would look the same too. It's weight comes from the design, which is so damn sweet!

If you put that thing o you wall make sure you find a stud.

2hip should heat treat the pork frame so that no one gets trichinosis.

I'm not THAT much of a curmudgeon.

Although I have been known to occasionally ride my 45/16 1" Holmes.

no way they were built any later than '99.

also, look at this pic:

1. the drops look like Fudgie the Whale.
2. the slots are at 2 different angles. precision!

Ah, those good old alex rims. I had a pair of them up until about 6 months ago. They weighed about as much as a medium sized dog, but you could ride up a set of stairs and they wouldn't dent.

Russ, You need a Rev B??? Let's just say i might have a couple kicking around in the back with a couple Fiends. I have an original Empire also that makes that Pork look like a lightned up Grim Reaper. Rev C's coming in the fall though. It will change life as we know it.

I'm pretty sure Ron's riding the only aluminum Pork left with dropouts on it. Also, Cam rides a Solid - he doesn't need a Pork.

i think all this talk of heavy vs. light, new skool vs. old school, "telling it like it is" vs. just being a grumpy old dude is superfluous

i like the look of the pork frame i wish more companies would experiment with ideas instead of copying what already sells good. I love the part right behind the seat tube where the top tube is flattened

You could take a pork frame, put all Ti stuff on it, 7k balance rims, khe folding tires, Pa bars, director forks, nitter natter etc. and you'd probably have a pretty balanced/solid as fuck bike..probably be like 28lbs

hey chris, how much would it be to take a fiend off your hands?

prok is 2 hevy 4 street

Brien, I'm not selling those Fiends. The headtubes were wrong on them anyway. I kinda just like keeping that stuff though. I can sit them next to my El Guapos.

Gotta love El Guapos. And I remember going by Spooky in Brewster when the Rev Bs were being welded. Good times.
