Dak the Ripper

Out on Long Island today without my computer but with bronchitis. Good times! If I had a scanner, I'd post my plethora o' prescriptions. So I'm keeping this short.

You can check out Dakota Roche's new signature frame here, and maybe someone can explain to me why, if he needs the strength of two gussets up front, he's still endorsing a frame that weighs 4.2 pounds. Is it the magic of Supertherm? (Speaking of Supertherm and gussets, FBM's gussets are bigger than yours. Unless you ride a Sunday. Or a Shaman.)

Ugh. Coughing so much that you throw up isn't something I'd recommend.

FBM makes freakin track bikes

"SuperTherm from True Temper is a proprietary superthermophillic (heat-loving) alloy, developed in partnership with the U.S. Steel Alliance. The composition of Chromium, Molybdenum, and Vanadium with an unprecedented 217 ksi ultimate tensile strength makes this alloy actually gain strength through a metallurgical transformation in the heat-affected zone as a result of welding or brazing. SuperTherm is highly temper-resistant, resulting in an 11% increase in fatigue life and a 20% increase in impact strength heat treated 4130. The increased mechanical properties of SuperTherm allow for incredibly strong, yet lightweight frame designs with that legendary feel of steel ride quality.

I like Fit. I have always liked their products, although they do need to make a D.L.U. (Down Low Up) stem that raises the bars for those of us that aren't "down low." They have a team that is rivaled by no other and they seem to treat them well. (Most of) their stuff is made here at home, and they don't try to be anything that their not. That being said, I had to scramble to scoop up a Fit Van frame when I found out they were discontinuing the Homan signature piece and now they are releasing yet another low slung, 75 / 71 / 13.65"-13.75" rear end ride. Not taking anything away from Hawk, Ed, Dak, Eddie or Chase but I think that legends should keep their signature frames (even if they don't have the geo and weight that every 105 lb. 15 year old craves) before everyone else on the team gets to make their own "little clone."

Dak's part in Insight. That one was easy. Im starting to dislike Fit more and more with every new part, frame or peice of clothing they put out. I cant wait till I get my Bloodwolf.

Dear anonymous: "lookes EXACTLY like the S3.5"

It IS an S3.5. That's why the page is titled: "Fit Series 3.5 Preview."

DEfination of the word series: "A number of things that follow on one after the other or are connected one after the other."

The "Signature Series" part refers to the fact that this is not supposed to be a radically new frame: the idea is that Fit will release a line based around the same frame with each release includeing a particular riders tweaks to the design (even if just means different gussets or a lack of paint).

You may not like this but Fit are not making out that they're doing something they're not.

For those of you who still don't get it, here's a quote from Russ:

"It always seemed ridiculous to me that, in the interest of having multiple 'signature' frames, companies would offer a line of four or five "different" frames that differed so slightly that you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference.

Hell, the welders could probably barely tell the difference.

And if one frame wound up being more popular than another, well, there went the profits. Sunday, I thought, they had it right.

It was like skateboarding. Just change the graphics, keep the basic product the same."

Yet more Anonymous: "is it just me or does it look like his wombolts are cracked? (not like i'd be surprised)"

No they haven't. The paint has flaked out is all. Take another look (the paint on mine has worn in exactly the samw way).

Look, i agree with you 100%. Really it should be called The Dakota Roche Signature S 3.5 not the Dakota Roche Signature Frame.
And I like the idea of the double gusset. It makes the frame stronger not lighter. I hope it catches on. It would be nice if making strong frames was top priority (again) and making them lighter was lower on the list.
The Solid Killing Machine is the perfect blend in my opinion.

and im gonna wait 5 years, save them and take all the glory or beating your german ass down.
supertherm is just another metal, which was first seen in the LTF. and they weigh the same, only ltf isn't gay with face shite, ive never liked DAK, sergio layos would own him. S&M is better than fit. I'm more suprised this isn't ANOTHER hawk/chase/eddie copy, but thats cause they broke all too often. ROBBIE LOOSE WEIGHT

Everyone loves a good Hitler Joke. Now save yourself the 5 year wait and commit suicide now. Possibly by riding some superlightweight part from KHE.

having been to s&m /fit (they are the same from the same place same metals same welders) and seeing all the broken frames there, only 1 or 2 broken frames w/ both gussets (strickers frame) . live and learn 2 is better than one, kind of like girlfriends...
