Punk is Definitely Dead

Gah, way too much to do today. Please pardon the brevity. (Although, if you believe what they say, it's the soul of wit, and I could use some of that. Also, I'll be less likely to make dumb mistakes.)

I like the concept of Nike 6.0. As I may have stated at some point, I think the Zoom Oncore is a fantastic shoe to ride in. And since they often get stocked at places that normally don't cater to, um, action-sports types, you can usually find them for dirt cheap (I got one of my pairs for $35).

I like Alkaline Trio. Yeah, they're not on my iPod, and I don't listen to them every day (or even every month), but when Maybe I'll Catch Fire or Good Mourning comes up on iTunes, I don't skip past it.

That said, thank you Nike 6.0 and Alkaline Trio for releasing the latest Godawful sneaker collabomination:

I'm not sure whether it's worse than the saw shoe (which I actually saw Nate Wessel wearing at Woodward), but it's close. Explanation and justification available here. (Tim Reede from Nike 6.0, punk rock would like to have a word with you behind the woodshed.)

I bought these today for $10 at the outlet. Crosswords are way more punk rock than the Alkaline Trio.

I suck at links.

Wasn't part of the deal with the Nike 6.0/SB thing that it would only be available in skateshops, not discount sports stores?

I was wondering if I missed the memo that Akaline Trio was punk.

I'm not feeling any of the band/shoe collaborations. I feel kinda lame just owning the Motorhead Rowleys, and that's fucking Motorhead.

The Alk3's will sell well in Hot Topic, though.

obvious=punk IS dead, skateboarding is NOT a crime and i hold Avril Lavigne responsible. her record label marketed her as being a Wendy O. Williams for a new generation and convinced billions of thirteen year old girls around the world that simply accompanying a resale shop tie with a shirt that didn't even have a collar(!) was punk "rawk" then having a writing team issue her a song to squeal about a "skater boi" (notice the alternative spelling of "boy" to include the "oi!" thus giving it credibility, i guess)...yep, that God Damned Avril Lavigne ruined my life. who's with me on this?!

i think the whole band x shoe thing is stupid.

except maybe the iron maidens, im not even a fan, they just look good.

Avril Lavigne couldn't hold Wendy O. Williams's electrical tape.

Also, SB remains skateshop only—6.0 is everywhere.

Well, if Avril has dinner plates, then I might waffle a bit.

But I am guessing nickle sized at best.

When Bad Religion starts designing furniture for Target, I will choke myself.

Stephen, i wish i could help but the only secret grip stash i have is a brand new pair of yellow Oakley 1's that have been living in my desk drawer since somone gave them to me at a Standard contest in 1997.

But...but...they have a BIKE TREAD PATTERN!

(I'll admit though, if they put the same shoe out in all black with a gumsole, I'd stop to look.)
