Colors

Not dead yet!

However, I am going to disable anonymous comments for a while and see how that works out. I'm sure there'll be fewer comments, but that's OK. It's not like comment count is the be-all and end-all. I don't even care what anyone says. It's not about censorship, just accountability. Obviously everyone knows (or think they know) who I am. That should go both ways.

(I'm writing this at a Borders, by the way. I tried to post from my G1 on Friday whilst headed to Madison Square Garden, but while I could get to the "compose" screen and even type in a title, I couldn't figure out how to get a cursor in the main text box. Curses! Stupid technology.)

In something resembling BMX news, Standard is still living like it's 1999—or maybe even 1989. Check those stem colors:

Powdercoated, anodized, even polished if you ask nicely. Personally, I think they're insane, but hey, what do I know. I've never even worked in the industry!

(If you'd have asked me when colored tires would be making a comeback, I'd have said "never—and thank God!" I'd have been wrong. Here's hoping they've made tremendous strides in rubber composition in the past couple years. At least the Crips and the Bloods are happy.)

It's like that damn Lion King movie, all "circle of life" and crap.

I guess this means that the trend will eventually die, we'll go back to riding all-black bikes for the better part of a decade and it'll just happen all over again. . .

Waiting for the bad colors to go away is arguably the worst part of it all.

I just wonder how many people will buy Standard stems at all? (While I actually like them a lot, they're probably not carved up and drilled out enough for the average weight weenie.)

if it had a higher rise then i'd probably get it instead of the push stem...but it's sort of like a topload without the whole point of it being a topload. it looks nice though

Jezz Russ, you disable "anonymous" comments, but technically I've never posted anonymously. I would always use "Lettusdude" and link to my Pinkbike account of the same name. I went and made a google account type thingy just so I could continue to post.

Anyways... Those coloured Odyssey tires don't look all that great. I actually have some red tanwall tires(I can't remember the brand, something 360 freestyle. I'd check, but the bike is currently at my girlfriends) on an old custom chrome/red G.T Performer. Coloured tires can look ok at first, but the tires on my G.T began to look bad even though all I do on it is light street every once in a while.

If you want pics of the beast, just ask.

OMG only 11 comments the sky is falling.

I have an old polished Standard stem on my Fit right now and will probably get one of the new ones. In black.

the integrated top cap, and the side machinging is verry nice, though a split top cap and taller reach would be nice.

standard has been trying to get back in the game but they haven't had much to offer.

it's getting impossible to make any money with out going overseas.
