Bring the Ruckus

Breaking news? Rob from WTP/├ęclat e-mailed to let me know that the yet-to-be-named stem is unnamed no more: it's called the Hannibal. There is apparently good reasoning behind this, but I can't figure it out. Feel free to guess, win nothing.

But yes, there's also the seat, the aptly named Gonzo Seat. The nose is a bit pre-dropped (although not as much as that of its namesake), and the base is a totally new design, not yet another gaudily re-appropriated Velo. It's light as hell (6.3 ounces naked, 8.8 clothed), but it also looks pretty little.

Makes you wonder why someone doesn't go all the way and just "design" a Pivotal version of the classic GT Dropnose. Anyway, yeah, nothing terribly SPRFLS to see here. But hey, it's only Tuesday.

•••••••••••

If anyone else is looking for a complete, here's a Fit PRK3 for a good cause. I might hold off a little while longer myself, as the weather is showing no signs of getting any better.

•••••••••••

Just in case you didn't click on that GT Dropnose link, remember the Robinson Ruckus?

All black trails bike? Stealth race machine? With one-piece cranks? Nope, I don't remember what the point was either. Looked neat, though.

Did the stem use elephants to cross the Pyrenees and the Alps and then attack Rome in 218BC?

I guessed that one already. Right after "did it eat a census taker's liver with Fava beans and a nice Chianti?"

There was a Robinson Ruckus at the bike shop here when i was in middle school, thing looked fuckin badass, all flat black with gloss black stickers

That looks like the least horrible pivotal seat so far. In another ten years, this amazing revolutionary design might reach mediocrity.

And they call the stem Hannibal because it's designed to tear your face off.

I took the Ruckus for a test ride but ended up going with the bright yellow Huffy MJ-12 instead. Oval toptubes!

I remember thae robinson ruckus!awesome..Completes are dialed these days..back then most completes had 1 pc..some had those shitty forged 3pc..Only the real high end like 700$+completes had 3 pc and sealed wheels..

Seeing that Robinson made me think one thing. Auburn needs to come back with aluminum bolt on rear ends for all the weight weiners. Powerlite needs to re-release the powerbend bars too so all the brakeless kids can chop some more wood when they pedal.

The first frame i bought was a RUCKUS for a 100 at my local shop. I was stoked. Till I....bent the massive dropouts inwards 15degrees. Then when i was changing a headset, the ruckus fell from a workbench and landed directly on the headtube, bending in and rending the frame useless. I was so infuriated I took out the sawzall and cut that thing into three pieces. Ahh to be young again.
It was for the best seeing as how my next frame was an O.G. Volume Destroyer with the gun stickers in that sick gray color. I miss that frame....
